WH Payne Father Letter

Dear Mr. Mc. Christison,
In reply to your letter of the 23rd inst. I am sending you a photo of my son which I shall be glad if you will kindly return in due course as it is the only spare copy we have. I regret to say we have not been able to collect any details of his death other than that he was [2] killed in Miraumont on the 19th Oct. 1917 and is buried at Courcelette near Albert. My wife and I have visited the memorial erected at Ovillers and also the grave at Courcelette both of which are very primitive but we understand proper memorials will be erected in due course.
