Guy Lee Holmes
Born 22nd December 1884, Guy was the fourth and youngest child of Percival and Evelina Holmes. After attending Streatham School, he came to the College in 1898, following in the footsteps of his elder brother, Hubert. In 1902 he left Dulwich, having been at that point a member of the Mathematical 5th.
After leaving school he suffered an illness, the after effects of which meant that when he came to apply for the Royal Flying Corps after the outbreak of war he was not passed as physically fit to join. Guy instead became a member of the Ambulance Corps, and eventually joined the French Red Cross as a Driver, performing with enough distinction to be awarded the Croix de Guerre. He left his role shortly after peace was declared, but in April 1919 he was killed back in England when he was involved in a motor accident in Brighton. His elder brother, Hubert, a fellow OA, died the same month, from the combined effects of pneumonia and influenza.
