2nd Lieutenant Harold Percival Robinson

Born on January 2nd 1893 in Rosario de Santa Fe, Argentine, Harold was the son of William Robinson, general manager, Argentine Land & Investment Company, and his wife Elizabeth. He started at Dulwich in the summer of 1906, and was at that time a boarder in Blew House. By the time he left, in 1910 whilst a member of the Upper 5th, he was no longer boarding, with the family by now having taken up residence in West Dulwich. After leaving the College however he returned to Argentina, where he took up a position working with the River Plate Trust & Loan Co.
In 1915 Harold returned to England, arriving in Liverpool aboard the R.M.S. Deseado on October 29th and subsequently signed up to the Inns of Court O.T.C. In September 1916 he was given his commission in the 6th Battalion of The King’s Liverpool Regiment, travelling across to the front very shortly afterwards. On July 31st 1917 he was killed in action at the age of 23 whilst leading his platoon in an attack during the Third Battle of Ypres and is commemorated on the Menin Gate.
