Private Gerald Ferguson Peacocke

Gerald was born on the 5th of May 1898, the son of accountant William Tully Peacocke and his wife, Constance. He started at Dulwich in 1910, following in the footsteps of his two elder brothers, Harold and Tully, who had both already been through the College. He was a pupil for two years, leaving in the summer of 1912 in order to take up a place at the Imperial Services College, where he was to spend the following three years.

In the summer of 1915, having just left the I.S.C., Gerald joined the Inns of Court O.T.C., with whom he spent several months training before transferring to The Buffs. Once with his new regiment he obtained a First Class Certificate in Musketry at the training school in Hythe, before proceeding to the front for the first time in May 1917. On August 9th he was involved in a raid on enemy trenches from which he never returned; although his body was never found he is presumed to have died on this date.
