Private Percy Farmer Draycott
Percy was born on May 16th 1883 in Bournemouth, to William and Amelia Draycott. By 1891 his father had died and the family was now resident in Solihull; they soon moved again, and during his time at the College the family were living in Dulwich. After leaving he went on to serve as an apprentice at the Thames Iron Works, through which he eventually became a qualified electrical engineer. In August 1912, in St. Helier, Jersey, he married Ruth Hutton, and soon returned with his new wife to Solihull, where he began working as a motor engineer.
In late December of 1915 Percy signed up for the forces, as a private in the Royal Army Service Corps. He was still serving in this role when, on July 16th 1918, he was involved in a serious motor accident in Lambeth, ultimately passing away as a result of his injuries. His widow, Ruth, survived him.
