Lieutenant Vernon Colville Dodgson
Born on September 4th 1891, Vernon was the eldest son of stock broker Gerald Dodgson and his wife, Florence. He started at Dulwich in the summer of 1904, and two years later was joined by his younger brother, Eric. After having left in 1907, he went on to spend some time working in insurance.
In December 1914 Vernon volunteered for service, and was given a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Middlesex Regiment; the following year he was promoted to Lieutenant, and subsequently went over to France with the 11th Battalion. The following year, on March 5th 1916, he was killed in action, and was buried at Vermelles.
