2nd Lieutenant Reginald John Preston Cobb
Reginald was born in Yorkshire on April 9th 1898, the only son of Australian-born Preston Cobb and his wife Frances. He spent the early part of his education in Scarborough, at Holmwood School, before spending a year at the College.
In late 1915, aged just 17, he signed up as a member of the Inns of Court O.T.C., with whom he spent nine months before leaving in order to attend Sandhurst in September of 1916. Reginald passed out in May the following year and was given a commission with the West Riding Regiment, before shortly afterwards being attached to the Royal Flying Corps. He spent the next several months training as a pilot before transferring to the front in September. On October 11th 1917 he had been on a routine patrol over enemy territory when his plane failed to return, and as a result he was later declared to be missing, presumed dead.
