Private Walter Edward Bernard Boecker
Born July 7th 1895, Walter was the fifth child, and second son, of German import merchant Rudolph Boecker and his wife Lina. During his time at Dulwich, somewhat unsurprisingly, he specialised in modern languages, and in his final year was a member of the 2nd XI cricket team; after leaving he took a place working as a junior clerk in the City.
He volunteered on August 8th 1914, taking a place in the City of London Regiment, and spent the next six months in training, before going out to France at the end of March 1915. Just over a month later, on May 5th, he and his regiment were involved in fighting near Festubert when he was unfortunately killed.
