TA Packman Notes

Packman TA Notes

After training at Shoeburyness & Newcastle he proceeded to France and experienced his baptism of fire – Nov. 6th 1914, and at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle he set a fine example to his men when he led his column through heavy shell fire along the La Bassee Road. In 1916 he was attached to Trench Mortar Battery for special duty and during the Battle of the Somme he again did splendid work.

In his native town of Rochester now stands in his memory the Tom Packman Memorial Hostel and Club.
