Dear Sir,
I regret to inform you that my brother Lieutenant Cecil E. Philcox 1st South Staffs died of wounds on May 24th. He was mentioned in Sir Doyles Hays’ despatches of May 23rd and was awarded the Military Cross on June 5th.
I enclose his photograph which you may keep, as probably you are compiling a complete list and Roll of Honour of all the dead Dulwich College boys who have made the great sacrifice.
Please excuse scribble but I have just had a [carpal] fracture so my hand is in consequence very ‘wobbly’
I am again Sir
Yours faithfully
A.R. Philcox
