Arthur Gordon Wright
Born 23rd October 1887, seemingly in California, we know that Arthur was a student at the College between 1902 and 1906; at the point he left he was a student in the Engineering Remove. By 1911 he was in Worthing, Sussex, serving as an analytical student engaged in laboratory work, living at the house of his Uncle Clive and Aunt Edith.
He never officially joined a military formation, but was part of a pseudo-‘Home Guard’, described as a ‘voluntary band of enthusiasts who patrolled railway bridges, etc.’ It was whilst engaging in this that Arthur lost his life, on August 14th 1914.
