Corporal Frederick Charles Abbott
Born on the 2nd February 1885, his father was also called Frederick Charles Abbott. Whilst at the College he was a member of the 2nd XI cricket team, as well as the 3rd XV rugby, both in the 1901 season. After leaving he became a member of Old Alleynians, as well as a qualified rugby referee. In 1908 he went out to Canada to work on the Canadian Pacific Railway, with whom he was still working as a baggageman when he signed up at the town of Medicine Hat, Alberta on September 27th 1914.
Frederick was a part of the First Canadian Contingent to come to Europe, leaving England for France in February of 1915, and he had not long received his promotion to Corporal when he died at Ypres on April 23rd that year.
