2nd Lieutenant Herbert Austin Debenham
Born 14th August, 1893, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.A.G. Debenham, who were residents of Antwerp in Belgium; he was the eldest of three Debenham brothers to attend the College. Having joined in 1905, he was a boarder in Ivyholme, and went on to become a part of the 1910 2nd XV before leaving the College in December of that year.
Once the war came he found himself serving with the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment, and was serving in the 5th Battalion of that Regiment when he fell on November 1st 1918. He is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, in the Pas de Calais Department of France.
