Lieutenant Arthur Louis Gullick
Arthur was born on September 9th 1885, the third son of shoemaker Harry Gullick and his wife, Ava. He came to College in the summer of 1898, the middle of five Gullick boys to do so; unlike his four brothers however he was not at Dulwich for very long, leaving after a year to go to Felsted School. After leaving there he went on to St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge, going on to attain a B.A. Following his graduation he spent several years in Russia, before subsequently going to France.
Arthur was still in France in the summer of 1914, returning to England upon the outbreak of war, where he took up a commission in The Buffs. He was promoted to Lieutenant that December, before going over to the Front for the first time the following June. On October 3rd 1915 he was engaged in a night-time reconnaissance mission at Hulluch, near Loos, when he was killed, being buried in the military cemetery at Bois-Carre.
